 Tipu Sultan's Daria Daulat Bagh (Summer Palace), near Mysore, was used to entertain and impress guests. All the teak walls and ceilings are painted largely with scenes of Tipu's conquests over the hated British. The scene here shows the victory of Haider Ali (Tipu's father) at Pollilore in 1780. In completely unrealistic detail the Nizam of Hyderabad can be seen arriving at the battlefield.      |
